I usually wear a 9.5 and I had previously tried the Snowburban from Vasque in size 9.5, even with a thin sock, they were too tight for my wider feet. So, I ordered a 10.5 since I could wear a thick winter sock if I needed to. Walking around the house and up the the park, the boots felt fine, comfortable, no rubbing or hot spots, so I decided to keep them.
I wore them on a 3 night trip in GSMNP in Jan. By the end of the first day (12 miles and lots of ups and downs), I had a blisters forming on both of my big toes. A little tape helped, but I noticed on the second day that the outside of my little toes were rubbing as well. Clearly, the boots were too big even with thick socks. I was going to exchange them for a size 10, but realized on the last night that even though the temperature was right about 30 degrees, my feet did not feel warm, which was the whole point of the boots.
Thankfully, Campsaver has a very generous return policy. 3 stars because the fit issue could have been fixed with a smaller size, but not warm enough for winter hiking.
