Just What I was Looking For

Written on Jan 23, 2022

I had recently bought a Montane Featherlight and love the fit cut on it so when I needed an insulator for the 30ish degree active days when I needed a little more breathability on the trail. Definitely go up a size unless you like it really snug I’m 6’2 190lbs and usually wear a L but I read it ran small so I bought both a large and an XL and my regular L size was ridiculously small for me and the XL was still fitted enough to wear as a mid layer or by itself and is comfortable with a backpack on. Love it.

Finally a Jacket that Fits

Written on Dec 23, 2021

It seems like most outdoor gear brands make their jackets to fit the masses with a mid section that has enough room to accommodate a a typical beer belly. I need the longer sleeve length so stepping down a size doesn’t work. This jacket has a nice slightly tapered midsection that works much better with a backpack and looks better too. Zips up nice and high to keep wind out and overall nice quality feel to it. I’m 6’2” 195 with longer than average arms and the XL fits nicely.

Nice for an Insulator Layer

Written on Dec 18, 2021

I wanted to like this for a cool weather hiking option but a few things prompted me to return it for something else mostly the loose fit.
I’m 6’1” 185 lbs usually fall between a L and XL but the L was too baggy rather than semi-fitted like I prefer.

PROS:
Zips up high to keep wind out and warm in
Burnt orange color is cool
Large chest pockets

CONS:
Too baggy in the mid section for an active/athletic build
No zippers on hand pockets
Elastic cuffs too loose to make to form a seal
No inside pocket
Waist is not adjustable elastic only

Perfect I this is what you’re expecting

Written on Nov 20, 2021

Very nice lite softshell jacket which can be worn alone as a summer jacket to throw in the pack or for winter over an insulator. It zips up nice and high for good wind protection and keeping the hood on snug and love the large chest pockets placed in the right spot for wearing i5 with a pack. If you plan on wearing this alone with just a thin base layer then your normal size will be more fitted athletic, go up a size if you want it to be a little more versatile with other gear. I’m 6’2” 180lbs athletic build and the XL fits just the way I like it.

Great Lightweight Down

Written on Feb 22, 2016

This is just what I was looking for in a very light jacket to throw on when it's cool out and I don't want to layer - considerably lighter and thinner than the Micro Ratio. I almost always wear a Large but the M in this is a nice fitted look and will make a great mid layer with a shell over it. I'm 6'2" 175lbs with slightly longer than average arms and it feels good for Med.

NOTE:: The Amphibian color is about 3 shades lighter than it appears here, I was bummed at first but it grew on me pretty quick.

Runs Small

Written on Mar 19, 2015

i first tried the Peludo jacket in XL but it was too big and a little heavier than I wanted so tried this jacket in Large and it was way too small but a pretty nice jacket and the right weight. I'm 6'1 and 175 lbs.

Nice Softshell - good job Mammut

Very nice mid-weight soft shell with adjustable cuffs which is always nice. Seems like nice construction, but had to return it because too big. I was expecting the typical euro size which is usually a bit smaller so I got a XL but too big for me - I border on L/XL depending on make. 6'1 175lb.
