Jeff's Review of Camp Chef Mountaineer 2 Burner Aluminum Stove
This stove is great for it's intended purpose and that's to cook with. As a portable two burner stove this is the highest BTU output I've owned and can bring fluids to boiling temperatures quickly. The aluminum body feels sturdy and solid. My main problem with this stove is that Camp Chef should taken the extra time to remove the burrs off all and I mean all the edges of this stove. I shouldn't have to worry about cutting myself when preparing my stove to cook. I spent $12 on a deburring tool and one hour removing all the burrs from the edges of the stove. Lastly I used steel wool to blend all the scratches and it also gave the stove a more aggressive look. For a $300 stove I shouldn't have to do these extra steps. I would rather pay the extra $75 for a Partner Steel 22" Burner stove, but since I paid a little over $200 because it was on sale and paired it with a hefty coupon(discount) I'd buy it at this price and remove all the burrs again. Another good alternative stove is JetBoil's Genesis Base Camp System for $259 with no burrs to worry about.
In closing since I had to buy a tool and spend time to make this product what it should be out of the box, I'm docking two stars from it. I also don't like the placement of the propane adapter being up front. It should be on the side or rear.
Pros:
Sturdy Construction
Fast boils
Cons:
Lots of burrs
Best Used for:
Camping
Outdoor cooking
Cooking fish outside so your house wont stink
Would Recommend:
Yes
