Awesome set

by Johnnyk, from NY, United States Written on October 7, 2019
Got the newer version of this Hybrid kit. Love it. Perfect for my bike. And the insulated flysheet works...not sure how, but it does.
I have used it 10+ times now. Still learning little bits about setup, but all pros in my book.

Excellent piece of kit

Love this. It's the MK2 now and it's a really useful and practical tent/hammock. I use with my motorbike and it fits the bill nicely. Usually use it as a tent but have used the hammock function as well (when I can find a trees!). I'd highly recommend as I have have a few items from Crua.

Great product

I purchased after I saw that Crua upgraded to MK 2.
Great piece of kit. They have made it lighter by 2lbs - still not the lightest on the market by a long shot - but it's super comfortable and well made.

Do not buy if you need a hammock!

by Campin Cathy, from HI, United States Written on October 6, 2017
I bought this on Kickstarter to replace my awesome Lawson Blue Ridge hammock that I have used 12 days a month for the last 3 years. My first impression of the Crua was that it was well made, but there was a lot of overkill. The biners are super heavy, as are the spreader bars. There are also 2 sets of tent poles for the head, which for backpacking, one would stay back. I didn't like the suspension. It was thick ropes with no ring or hammock clew. When I first hung it, it leaned to one side, I couldn't get it flat. I thought it was the suspension so I re-rigged it with dyneema, which I would have done anyway. When taking off the original lines, they had cut the extra rope off, so even if I wanted to adjust them, there was no way to do it. The thing still never laid flat even after I put the new lines on. I took it to my friends who sew and we determined that it was sewn wrong in the foot box. The grommets were already pulling. I tried to get a couple more nights out of it, but sadly after 20 day, I ended up on the ground and the whole bottom ripped off. I had contacted Crua to tell them it wouldn't lay flat and the said send pics. I didn't get back to them at first since I was trying to figure out where it was going wrong. Now that it's broken, I've emailed them twice with pics and I haven't heard anything. You'd think they'd be interested in getting it back to see where their production problems are, but apparently not. So now I'm stuck with this $300 piece of useless garbage ...
