— 4 reviews — Page 1
My choices were narrowed down to the Talon 22 and this one. Both are excellent. The deciding factors for the Speedlite were the smaller footprint, slighter lighter, removable waist strap, and the subdued red color. With some brands of packs I wonder if the people who design them have ever even used a backpack, but Deuter is the best designed pack I've owned. It is also the most durable I've owned. That said, the one concern I have with this pack is the size of the side pockets. I prefer using water bottles to hydration bladders and these pockets are a bit shalllow. The 1 quart Nalgene bottle actually seems to be well secured, but only about the bottom half of the bottle. The bottle lid strap can be secured with the pack strap. Maybe with this size of pack one doesn't need to carry than much water. I would recommend this pack for day hikes and travel.
Pros:
Light weight
well constructed
Cons:
shallow side pockets

My backpack arrived quickly, in good condition, and I couldn't find a better price anywhere else. Haven't had a reason to return it or contact customer service, so I can't comment on those things, which is OK with me.
