Solid Day Pack with room for a few layers, food & essentials
Own another DEUTER pack (36L) and loved it so took the plunge for the 26
LOVE the sturdy shovel pocket! (wish my 36L had one)
Well constructed and functional
Only improvement would be to lose the flimsy elastic mesh water bottle pockets and replace them with durable fabric (cordura) pockets that can be tightened with an elastic pull cord (like everywhere else on the pack), that can actually withstand the abrasion that comes with hiking, scrambling and regularly setting, dragging &/or rubbing the pack against actual hard surfaces such as slickrock. When water bottles or other hard objects are in the flimsy mesh pockets, they facilitate holes being rubbed through the mesh.
This happened on my first hike with the pack.
Other than that, the fit & finish & quality are good. Shoulder straps have good cushioning. Waist belt could use side pockets
