Could be better

by Icespider, from NY, United States Written on September 4, 2021
I purchased one for a climbing trip to Alaska, to keep the airlines from destroying my pack and its contents. This cover works for what it is, keeps the shoulder straps and hip belt from being torn off by conveyor belts and such while moving through the airports. What it does not do, is stop airline employees from dragging your bag on the ground and melting holes in this cover (think nylon and friction). One trip, and i found holes in this cover from being dragged on concrete or asphalt, and the nylon was scuffed to the point I now have multiple dime sized holes in two locations. This is a large cover, and the way the handles are designed (one small handle on one side, and one small handle on what i would consider the top of the bag) really almost encourages someone to do this, it is a bit awkward to move the way the handles are located. All things considered, it gets the job done, no damage to my Dyneema ultra light pack, out and back so you could say it works. If I were deuter, I would consider a different material than the thin nylon it is currently made from. It's designed for up to a 90 Liter pack, which pretty much means we are going over the airline free bag limit, so I think i would be happy with this product made from a sturdier material. Next trip is to Russia....wish me luck!

Designed very well. Made with nice material that should withstand airline baggage handlers.
