CynLoo's Review of Duckworth Maverick Crew - Womens

...which I put on to sleep in and could not bear to take off, wore it during the day, the next night – ha ha! Partly I told/justified to myself it was to test if it was really smell proof. All these 100% wool Mavrick Duckworth shirts are totally stink resistant. I’ve experimented by wearing this eight or nine times so far without washing it, I air out in between and no smell at all next time I use it. (Im a pretty low BO person but I’ve still never had a shirt perform like this). I’m sad they don’t make the 100% wool Maverick line anymore. (Based on other brands my experience is even slight addition of nylon or tencel is never as stink proof as pure wool with extended use like backpacking). I have a lot of wool shirts and this brand is incredible, best – it feels so light and is very thin yet somehow still feels micro-puffy and extra cozy. They claim their wool is different d/t how it’s bred and it must be true. It is sheer in the natural color but I can wear it alone with a nude colored bra though some people might still find that a tad too sheer. I have the black t shirt version in XS which is not sheer at all. Maverick shirts Fantastic for sleeping, skiing, camping, around town under shirts and sweaters for sure.5’3“ 117# medium chested, in XS this is fitted, but not molded on tight. I like how it kind of hugs me for sleeping. Sleeves are quite long which is great. I have the maverick T-shirt in natural color in a S which is a looser but not baggy, traditional kinda boxy T-shirt fit. Like it but XS t shirt cuter fit on me. I have a men’s long sleeve S and that also fits well, looser more like the T-shirt but looks and feels great. Does not look strangely oversized. I had read warnings the maverick T shirt seams twisted in the wash, and that did indeed happen to me. But I loved the T shirt so much that I just reshaped it to dry, and bought another one anyway! No significant shrinkage with one wash so far. So even if this long sleeved one were to twist also I won’t care I will just reshape it. If they were cheaper I’d get second of these- might anyway as this thin merino will likely wear holes. The short sleeve t shirts are avail really cheap some sizes, from some vendors.
Pros:
  • Wonderful wool - the best comfy cozy but not hot texture
Cons:
  • Some may consider natural color to share though not so for me
Best Used for:
  • Backpack, Camp, warm ski day, about town, Layering, super cozy sleep shirt,
