This stove is small and lightweight and boils water in a short amount of time. You do not even have to use an entire fuel tab. I would recommend it to anyone.

Prior to this I used a MSR XKG-EX, too heavy. The Esbit stove with a weeks worth of fuel is small enough to fit inside a small cup. This fact makes it lighter and about 1/8 the size of my previous set up. The cost comparison is around $9.00 vs. [$] If there's a lighter, cheaper, and more functional stove out there I liked to know. Until then Esbit will continue to serve...

I have used this stove on multiple backpacking trips and one tablet provides enough heat to boil two cups of water. I have used it in near-freezing temperatures. I mainly got it so I could fly to a destination since airlines don't like liquid or gas fuel on their planes and the places I go do not offer refills for my gas stove so I have to take my own.
The fuel tabs will leave a residue on you

I actually like this stove setup, and its simplicity, but wanted to make a few points:
(1) The fuel tabs are really expensive, at about $1 apiece. A lot of my dinners require 4 tabs or so...that's $4! I'd be better off using an alcohol stove.
(2) There are lighter stoves for Esbit tabs, including the Ti wing stove and the Gram craker stove.
(3) The smell and mess get everywhere. Be sure to stor

The stove performs fine. Relatively easy to light and brings water to a boil quickly. Only problem is the smell. The fuel tabs have a putrid odor to them that resembles rotting fish. Good luck with one of these in bear country!!!

For day hikes, throw a couple of hot chocalate packs right in the folded stove with a heat tablet and you have a quick warm drink for two.
Built wind guards from Esbit site I found while surfing on internet and the thing boils 16oz of water in about 6 min.
I love it,it is so simple, it makes me smile when I open it for use.
