Exped Megamat Lite 12 LXW
Bought the LXW since the pad was available and on sale. The low weight for such a large pad roped me in. The LW (25" wide) was on backorder. I'm over 6' tall, so I like the long. This LXW mat is big, 77" long, 30" wide, 4-1/2" thick. Love the extra width at 30". Made in Taiwan. 100% polyester, 50d on top, 75d on the bottom, synthetic insulation R=5.2 (good to 0F), weighs 3.1 pounds. Not sure the pad is as durable as Exped's Downmat or Synmat that are 75d top and bottom. The air sack to blow it up is huge and difficult for me to get a full bag of air headed into the valve. The air and bag want to move where least restricted, and it's not always towards the valve. The bag is so big it's hard corral the air for me. I eventually got better at it, but it takes a while to blow this thing up. This mat is a dream to sleep on. Stuff sack is small enough at 13 inches long by 7 inches in diameter.to haul in a backpack. It's like Exped made this uber comfortable pad to torment backpackers. A great car camping pad, and Exped has made this pad light enough to tempt the comfort vs. weight decision when backpacking. This LXW pad is too wide to fit in the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL1 man tent.
Pros:
- Comfortable, relatively light
Cons:
- Long time to blow up,
Best Used for:
- Car / base camping
Would recommend: Yes
Best mat I own so far
This mat has is Amazing quality and I love the texture at the top. It inflates really easily with the bag provided that also turns into a dry bag. It almost feels like a real bed and packs relatively small for its size. If you don’t mind carrying the extra pound this is an excellent choice for backpacking.
Pros:
- COMFORT
Cons:
- Weight
Would recommend: Yes
