Bought this item for hiking and mountain biking in rainy weather. Quality of construction is very good and pack has many features such as daisy chains and straps for securing skis, poles and etc. to the outside of the pack. Inside there is a sleeve to separate items and a waterproof, transparent bag for maps. Fit and comfort is good when loaded. Advertised as waterproof. U-opening on the top is convenient but when the zipper is closed there is a small gap between the 2-zipper sliders where water may come in. Good idea to close zipper with the sliders towards the bottom of the pack to minimize leak. Top lid also has waterproof zipper but no "garage" for the slider, which leaves a small space for water to enter. Pack is pricey and probably an overkill for city use of hiking in mild weather. Nice item if you need all its features.

I ended up returning this because the suspensions system is pretty standard, just foam ridges. Internally it has a lot going on, but I live in a hot climate (VA) and I hike hot. I really like ExPed, and have a lot of there stuff, but can’t justify the price of this 20 L daypack given other choices out there that do much better in hot and muggy climates.
