I have done a few long (7-8 day) walks (Tasmanian Overland) where I had to fly in with a large heavy pack and equipment to camp and food for the entire trip.
Getting out of the airport and around town waiting to get a bus to the trail head meant lugging a heavy pack with me everywhere. I even started using an old "trolley" just to cart my pack around and carried it separately on the plane. But then there was the problem of the pack straps needing to be tied down (or ripped off by the plane cargo handlers) and my camp knife mounted on the outside of my pack "secured".
Then I spotted this Exped Wheelie Bag. If I could have described the perfect product to solve my problem, this would be it. I drop my Exped Thunder Backpack (bought from Campsaver 2 years ago) into it, cinch it down and wheel it onto the plane or check the luggage. It is neat, clean with nothing hanging off, simple and portable. After returning from a Nepal trek, I can now use my 120L duffel bag I bought for that trip and drop it fully packed into the Wheelie and convert it into a portable bag whilst still having the duffel portable.
Whenever I am now flying around Australia to do a climb or trek I take the wheelie bag. I quickly convert my packs into a single easily transportable load, recover it at the other end and leave the "wheelie" at a convenient location for the return trip. Highly recommended.
