First off, this is a very well-made jacket from Filson. I loved the color, the numerous of useful pockets and the overall fit; and the hand of the fabric is outstanding, soft and pliable. Unfortunately, still had to return due to a couple of issues that were key for me. Great that they attempted to allow the collar to be stowed away. More companies should understand that most people do not require the hood extended all the time, even for a fully waterproof jacket. Problem was that the Reliance jacket collar is huge and high. If you don't have a giraffe neck, you are going to be peaking out of this thing like a squirrel in a tree. Also, when the hood is stowed, it is more like a neck brace; high and thick. Also the open zipper creates a trough behind your neck which may capture rain flow. Never tested that, so this part is speculation only. The hood is such a high quality, I think it would be better just to have it zip off instead. Then the non collar version would look and feel much better. The last nitpick is the diameter of the arms which is very large. If you are a body builder with big 19" biceps, then you are gonna love it. If your arms are slender, you are going to swim with the extra fabric. Maybe this is because of the pit zips (which were another reason I wanted it) but the execution could've been better. The jacket is so nice, I wanted it to work for me in the worse way.
