I bought a second Greenland Shirt, even though I don’t ever expect to wear out the first — I think people will get tired of seeing me in the olive one!

Big pockets that don’t snag. It doesn’t crease and somehow nothing sticks to it. It’s relatively windproof and will resist light drizzle.

It’s a good woods layer: versatile, hard-wearing, and space in the pockets for the things you should have on you.

Those same attributes make it an excellent travel shirt: the combo of light base layers, then a light sweater, then the Greenland Shirt will be good for 40–70°F; you can unsnap the shirt and roll the sleeves up to cool off, or button it up to keep the wind out. You can go from a hike to a nice restaurant just by tucking it in, and you won’t draw too much attention. I’ve spilled red wine on my olive shirt and it rinsed off completely in an airplane bathroom.

Bear in mind that the Greenland Shirt is regular fit. I’m 5’10”, 170–175lb, 40” chest and broad shoulders. I wear the Granit Shirt (‘comfort fit’) in a Medium, but a Large in the Greenland Shirt, which gives me a little space to layer underneath, and shoulder mobility that I wouldn’t get from the Medium.
