Most Helpful Positive Review Outstanding Parka
Heavy duty, super warm and has all the great features you'd expect in a true winter parka. It's kept me comfortably warm during -10 degree nights in Maine and has kept me dry on a 35 degree day with heavy rain. I'm 6 foot and 170 - medium fits great.

Fantastic Parka

by Patrick M., Verified Owner from AK, United States Written on November 27, 2018
Love it. Perfect for Alaskan winters. Roomy, comfortable, rugged, warm. Classic look you’d expect from Fjallraven.

As other reviews pointed out, hood is huge. Definitely gives you the Cartman look when you zip all the way up. But no way the wind is getting through. Otherwise, no complaints.
Pros:
  • COMFORT
  • DURABILITY
  • STYLE
  • Warmth
  • layering
Cons:
  • Big hood
Best Used for:
  • Staying warm and dry

Killer Parka

by MJ, from WI, United States Written on October 12, 2018
I'm a guy who does a ton of research on products. I mean A LOT. If it's a product I use daily (TV, coffee maker, bed, etc), I read and watch pretty much every review online before I make the purchase. I am surprised this jacket didn't have more reviews than it does, but 99% of the reviews I did read were extremely positive. I have zero issue spending money on something I need or want, but I won't squander money away either.

That being said, I reviewed parkas for a solid month before I settled on the Fjallraven Polar Guide parka. It's not my first rodeo with parkas. I live in Wisconsin and on Lake Michigan so I warm winter jacket is a must. I've had a Canada Goose Expedition and a North Face McMurdo III, but I sold them both for reasons you can read in other reviews.

I regards to the Polar Guide, this is a killer, killer parka at a killer, killer price. I would pay full price for jacket without blinking an eye because it's just that good. Quality wise, it's right there with CG (if not better) and it far exceeds the quality of the NF. Not knocking NF at all because that's a quality jacket for the price, but comparing the two head-to-head is like comparing homemade bread to Wonder bread. It's not even close.

The G-1000 is a quality fabric that is really tough and strong, but it's still very pliable so you're not walking around like the tin-man. In regards to warmth, it's really warm. It's not "sweating bullets unless you're outside for an entire day in a 70 mph A...

Amazing Parka

by Funky Frenchie, from NY, United States Written on August 25, 2018
I was looking for a long lasting parka to replace my 10 year old one. I decided to migrate from Canada to Sweden brand wise. This parka looks amazing, professional and built to last. You can definitely wear it with very little layers under it which was my goal. It is also suitable for a professional setting. Definitely a steal when on sale. Be careful on sizing. I am 6’4 and 200 pounds, long arms and the L fits me perfectly. They need to provide better sizing guidance.
Pros:
  • Quality, color and versatility
Cons:
  • Hood is too big, need to downsize
Best Used for:
  • Winter and fall

Very warm parka

by Matthew, from MI, United States Written on January 14, 2018
This is a very nice parka. It is the warmest jacket I own. The zipper can be somewhat difficult at times and the size runs just a little big. I wish the hood was removable but you can remove the fur liner on it.
Pros:
  • warm
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Winter

Swedes Know How to Make a Parka

by David, from DC, United States Written on January 8, 2018
Really nicely crafted parka with good warmth (though not as warm as their Artkis Parka). I'm 6'2" and 162 lbs with 41" chest and it fits nicely when I wear a sweater. I usually wear LARGE in most garments due to my height and 34" sleeve length. When I called the Fjallraven folks they described each parka's sleeve length (they're almost all in the 34-36" range from the middle of your back to the end of the sleeve) while the chest size decreases 2-3 inches with each coat size. Anyway, this jacket is a more supple polyamide in the body but the high wear areas (cuffs, pocket flaps, tops of shoulders) are a greenish G-1000 tougher fabric and it does have a waterproof hydratic barrier throughout. So if you're in conditions where the climate is usually a little warmer and you're not getting the months-on-end hard freeze that is typical of Minnesota or Maine or Montana then this coat is what you need because the polyester hollow fiber insulation tolerates the wet snow, sleet and drizzle better than a down parka does. This is the warmest of Fjallraven's non-down insulated parkas. I also like that its half the price of a Canada Goose and I can wear it doing work outside at my mountain cabin or just hanging out doing no work and still stay reasonable warm provided I've put some long johns on the legs. I could really hardly have made a better choice and highly recommend this product. The only things that are weaknesses is the length of the parka is a bit less than the Artkis so...

Superior Winter Parka

by Jer, from NH, United States Written on December 24, 2017
This is the best parka I’ve ever worn. I’ve had it for about a week and I got it just in time for the harshest weather of the winter here in coastal New England. I wore it in snow, sleet, freezing rain, and cold rain with wind. This coat withstood all of those elements with zero problems. I felt like it was daring Mother Nature to do more. The coat has heft for certain, but this is due to its features. When I have this thing on, I know I’m wearing something that is truly weatherproof. Here in coastal New Hampshire, things get pretty tough, and the wind can be brutal. I’ve lived in Minneapolis, Denver, and now in Mee Hampshire and I would trust this coat to get me through the winter in any harsh climate. This thing is superb and well worth double the price. Fjallraven’s G1000 fabric is a blessing. I look forward to having it for many years!
Pros:
  • Water proof
  • warm
  • Storage
  • Materials
Cons:
  • left handed zipper
Best Used for:
  • Winter weather
