This isn't a technical jacket. It's reasonably windproof, sheds a bit of water, and breathes ok, but I didn't get it for that. It looks great, fits great, feels durable, and is comfortable. It's a fashion piece that leans towards the outdoor side of things, but I wouldn't use it for anything intense outdoors at all. And that's what I was looking for, a black, canvas-ish, light jacket that looks good with anything. The G1000 lite is barely distinguishable from regular G1000, except for a ripstop square pattern. Dark gray color is basically one shade lighter than black. Fit through the body is...

Sizing chart not accurate

by Mike, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on December 25, 2024
SIZE XL Went by the sizing chart to the letter. I am 6’2” 215 lbs and it fits tight all over so order at least one size larger or two if you plan on layering over heavier clothing. I’m now out of luck since they no longer have A 2XL in stock. And since it was on sale…. Blah blah blah. Guess I’m just stuck with it.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Sizing
  • Size too small

Fjallraven Skogso jacket

by jim, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on March 7, 2019
I needed a jacket to match in durability and wear as vidda pro trouser for outdoor activities and this Skogso fit the bill, the same g-1000 fabric is bombproof and take lot of abuse I can throw at it. I noticed the fabric have square pattern weave somewhat similar to ripstop nylon on my tent, which is interesting since I’ve never have seen that in clothing - this jacket will make it in to my stuff sack every time for sure
Pros:
  • Fabric and eased fit cut for comfort and durability
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Outdoor and just everyday around the house use

great jacket

Fjallraven jacket is a very famous jacket, so I ordered without worrying. When I first received it, the color was pretty and the size was perfect. Two zippers on the chest side provide adequate storage space.

Nice looking jacket - huge sizes

by Donavon C., Written on February 14, 2017
A very nice jacket. Good, with a fleece liner, in temperatures down to a few degrees below freezing. The Skogso itself has no real insulation, but makes for a great outer shell if you want to avoid the synthetic plastic-y look and noise.

The sizes are for giant Swedes though. I'm 5'9", 40"chest, 29" waist and I bought the XS - it looks and feels like a fitted jacket (sleeves are long, but I quite like that). I tried a S and it was like a tent. Many of the online pictures look like the model is swimming in the jacket - because the sizes have no relation to more usual sizes in US and Europe.

Buy the jacket, but try a size or even two smaller than you would think. Ignore the Fjallraven size chart completely.

IMMHO

I bought this jacket for its look and for its quality. Both were what I expected. What I forgot was that I'm fat. Lol, I'm heavy in the waist area which caused a problem when time to "zip-up". The size small wasn't going to cut it, so I exchanged it for the size up. I haven't received the exchange due to my delay of the original return. I'm 5-4" and weigh 173 lbs. I'm all muscle, except for the stomach....

Decent jacket- high price

by Tanuj S., Written on December 13, 2016
I have another fjallraven jacket for the winter (yupik parka) and I am very happy with it so I bought this for more mild temperatures. It seems well constructed, but I will admit that $200 seems a bit excessive for a light jacket that is only wind and water resistant. This item is more of a luxury- you're paying extra for the name. I think you could get similar quality for much cheaper with another company.

On a separate but related note, I believe this is a socially responsible company which is why I'm willing to spend a little extra on their products.

So far so good. The size and the cut work well. Just have to test it in the rain...
