I bought this jacket (XL) in an attempt to find a trim-fitting midlayer that I could also use around town as a lightweight jacket. I've got a few technical jackets that work well, but I was looking for something a bit more stylish.
Unfortunately, this jacket just didn't work for me, mainly because of the fit. I'm a lanky 6' 5", 220 lbs and normally fit an XL in Marmot, TNF, Mountain Hardwear tops with a bit of room for layers underneath. For reference - Eddie Bauer/First Ascent Large Tall fits me perfectly.
Unfortunately, the Swindler was just too broad in the body for me. The fit is kind of square, and the sleeves are borderline too short. If you're broad & thick, this will probably work for you. I did like the features & smart placement of the inside pockets, but I feel it's a bit overpriced for what you get. It seemed nicely detailed & constructed, and would probably look nice on someone it actually fit. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

Bought the Swindler jacket on sale, and I love it. Great piece of layering gear, good stitching and quality, and warm, super lightweight and packs small, I think it runs a little small, but the xl fits me great! Wear it mostly over a t-shirt, but light enough to wear under a shell. Love the retro styling! Good zippers and pockets, not a lot of frills, but I really like it!

This jacket is quite thin with insulation. It looks thicker in the pictures. I plan on wearing it as a light jacket. I wear 46 suit coat and xl size is perfect.

Not thick insulation at all. Quite thin, actually. That's ok, because I got this for casual use on cool days. Kind of western looking, but not in a hillbilly way. By no means am I a western dresser. Flylow products are made really nice.
