Most Helpful Positive Review Nice concept/design
it would be a great hydration pack if the bulb were lighter. It's not an ultralight item, but it works well when there is adequate pressure from the air bladder. I found myself pumping it more often than I thought I'd need to. There was a taste from the plastic, but it was a very hot day which may h...

Most Helpful Negative Review Fantastic idea, which works, but too big
Was very excited to find this item and to receive it as drinking from most bladders for me is a chore. Pumping air into the bladder is easy but makes it enormous and I truly don't know how you could use this for backpacking, i.e. it'd take up a massive amount of room in a backpack. When air has bee...

Best

Best hydration bladder on the market in my opinion. I love that it sprays. This is my second one, I lost the first one in the moving process. I hunt and hike a lot and there's nothing else I will carry!

Works as advertised.

Watch the videos online and learn how to use this tool effectively. I cut my hose and connected a sawyer mini with no problems. I do have issues with the bulb pump falling off from to time. Find a way to secure that and you're good to go.

Best Hydration Pack I've Ever Used!

by Levi M., Written on May 31, 2017
This thing is great! It's only been on one 3-day trip so far, but it feels incredibly durable, even when it's pressurized. The pressurization system sometimes needs a little help sometimes to maintain pressure, but it works well enough that this was the only water container I used all weekend. The open-top system makes it easy to fill and clean, and the in-line filter I picked up clips right in and means you can fill and drink on the trail without ever slowing down. 3 liters was probably a little large for hiking on the east coast, but I'd rather carry more water and stop less. It's a fantastic bladder that's worth every penny.

Geigerrig hydration engine works well.

by Dale K., Written on September 9, 2016
This hydration pack is the best system I have found so far. It is a high quality product with the best and most reliable bite valve. Campsaver had the best price by far and shipping was quick.

Out of the box evaluation

by AT GA-ME, 2010, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on March 30, 2016
I purchased the 2L model to provide 11 miles of water carry for mountain trail running on the AT during hot summer months.

I haven't use this product in the field yet (3 months hence), but I have run it through some preliminary, out of the box tests.

I did fill it up and insert it into my 2015 MountainSmith Day TLS lumbar pack (also purchased from Campsaver.com). I placed it vertically into the stretchy fabric compartment against the back, and the pack easily zips closed. The 2 hoses can exit either end of the pack due to the double zippers on the pack, so no pack exit hole modification was required. I also tried placing the bladder horizontally. The horizontal fit is snug, which is desirable to minimize movement of the bladder while running. Storage of other gear seems more convenient this way, also.

The stated dimensions of the bag shrink when filled with water, allowing it to fit horizontally and vertically within the 12"Vx10"H pack dimensions .

I don't expect any problems with water delivery due to orientation since the water is pressurized, not gravity fed, but having the water exit port of the bag in the lowest vertical position is standard procedure otherwise.

Easy to set up and use

by Samuel C., Verified Owner from Singapore Written on February 22, 2016
Setting up the Hydration Engine Reservoir is a breeze. It can carry 3L of water and so far it is proving to be durable. It can also be flipped inside out so it is easy to wash. I would definitely recommend it.

Geiger hydration

by Roger P., from NH, United States Written on July 6, 2015
Short term observations
Very easy to fill and clean.
Fits easily into both camelback HAWG pack as well as North Face Conness 70.
Should have purchased air bulb garage to help contain. However a strip of Velcro solved that issue easily. Will repost after long term usage through four seasons.

Geigerrig Hydration Engine Reservoir - thank you

by James O., Written on March 5, 2015
After reviewing several hydration pack articles, I bought two Geigerrig engines (one for me, one for my partner) and we field-tested them on the one-day Tongariro alpine crossing in New Zealand. They performed admirably, with a good capacity, a well-designed bite valve, and easy (pressurized) flow. The ability to turn the bladder inside out for dishwasher cleaning is great. Very pleased with these purchases, and will be using them more in the future.
