Excellent
Top closure would work better if designed like a dry bag closure instead of a drawstring.

Good for JMT
This is a lightweight pack that is excellent for the JMT. Carried up to 8 days of food at a time in a bear canister and water bladder in pack outside pocket and bottles in pockets for energy drinks. Did get the top lid which worked well for frequently accessed accessories like lights, toilteries, snacks. Pack is comfortable and rides well even fully loaded. I have been an Osprey fan for almost 15 years but this pack makes Granite Gear a top pick where weight savings is important like where 50,000 ft of elevation gain is involved over the course of your trip. I see it was a 2011 backpacker award winner. It does have a little more structure to it than some Granite gear packs. It is good and keeps on going.

Granite Gear Blaze AC 60
Granite Gear is not widely known in my country and I based the purchase simply on the pack winning the Backpacker Magazine 2011 Editor's Choice Award. After a few trips it does not disappoint me and I knew why it won the award. Yes it has a very simple design (some would say boring) but it serves a lot of purposes. It can pack a lot of things inside and the body can easily be expanded to provide more space. It is very light too. I also like the molded foam pad that provides comfort to my back especially when carrying heavier load. The downside would probably be the absence of top lid which can easily be fixed with the line-loc lid.
Pros:
- Simple yet very functional
Cons:
- Top lid comes separately
