Great Pack - Better Customer Service

by Customer, from NY, United States Written on June 9, 2021
Love this pack. Very versatile. Can use it for a weekend trip or for much longer treks, say 5-10 days. Lightweight, made even lighter when you remove the lid, frame sheet and even hip-belt (if you base weight is low enough). Like any pack IMO it's as durable as you treat it.

I've had the previous version in olive green since 2018. Some of the fabric did become frayed but Granite Gear who was very quick to reply, honored their warranty and are sending me a new pack. I don't think I'll ever get a pack that isn't a Granite Gear.

Light and Versatile

I haven’t long-distanced packed in it yet, but as soon as I received my pack, I loaded it up to see how it fit. I like the outside back pocket for wet clothes and adjustable hip belt. With my bear canister, I wonder how it will feel against the back after long days but I stuffed it with my sleep bag in between and throat may remedy it. My previous pack was the Nimbus Ozone - held up for many many years. Hoping this one does the same.

So lightweight!

by pdxrambler, from OR, United States Written on April 27, 2018
I'm getting old so I need to lighten up my base weight and this really fits the bill. It's lighter than any pack I've ever owned including my day packs. It can be used with a small load too so it may soon become my only pack. I've only taken it on a couple of day hikes so far but am looking forward to loading it down. It's quite roomy but the compression system cinches it down to whatever size I need. I measured an inch under the max for the short torso and it's comfortable but the load stabilizer straps hit right at my shoulders instead of a couple inches above like I'm used to. I hope that's not a problem when I get a big load. The buckles are a bit stiff and it took some getting used to the chest strap buckle being all the way over to one side. I like the roomy hip belt pockets but they stick out a bit more than I'm used to and I kept noticing their presence. The big test will come after an overnight trip, but so far I'm loving my new weight.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • adapatable to small and large loads
Cons:
  • None

I am extremely happy with my purchase. The adjustable waist belt is awesome. I loaded it up upon receipt and the pack was very comfortable. And I got a great price on a demo model- it was in like new condition! Can’t wait to use it on the trail!
