Yes, this is a great pack for "lightweight" backpacking. Outfitted with the air beam back pad and removing the lid, this pack weighs in at 2'4". I am 6'3" and usually take a large or long in torso length for a pack. I ordered a long and indeed it is long. Be careful about this. I had to return the pack and took a regular which fits perfectly. The long really is for someone with a really long torso. I have been able to fit my 650cc bear can and all my gear (base weight = 14lbs) and a 1.5L hydration sack in the side pocket and still have room. One small slightly negative comment: there are so many straps and buckles that you feel sometimes as if you are trailing spaghetti from the pack. I have found that I can stuff most of the trailing strap ends in various places on the pack so it makes a neater appearance. But I would encourage GG to find a way to keep the strap ends neater. Otherwise, one the best packs I have owned.
