The soloist is good for one or two

by William W., from AL, United States Written on April 11, 2015
My son and I just completed a 5 day backpacking trip where I used this cooking/mess system for the first time. I liked how easy everything was to clean and the light weight. I cooked in the big pot, then split out the food into the mug/bowl. My son had his own mess kit, but we really didn't need it.

Fabulous!

The GSI Soloist camp set was awesome! I took it on a backpacking trip in Aspen (Maroon Bells) last week. It heated water two or three times faster than my first set of cheap cookware. It folds up tight, cleans well and cooks evenly. This was a fantastic purchase and I'm very happy with it's durability, speed of balanced heat, ability to hold heat and compact use!

Using "freezer bag" cooking techniques this set up allows quick low cost good meals and quick clean up at a const

nice cookset

I just took the soloist out for a 30 mile 2 day backpacking trip. The cookset worked great. We mainly used it for boiling water for coffee and heating pasta sauce. I feel being able to boil 1 L of water is suitable for most of the needs for 1-2 individuals. If cooking for more I would go with one of the larger GSI cooking sets. The sip cup works great for a hot drink and doubles as a small bo
