Most Helpful Positive Review Highly recommend
I have a pair of these in narrow that I ordered from Europe for my narrow feet. Easily my favorite pair of boots, took a few miles to break in but now they feel like they were made for my foot. I did not find them to stiff, but they have lots of support. Based on my experience I ordered a pair for ...

Most Helpful Negative Review better if you can afford to upgrade
The HanWag Tatra boots are well made however they are stiff and the support is hard with no cushioning insole. I hiked daily with them for ten days. They did not break-in. My 3 to 5 mile daily hikes resulted in lots of discomfort, painful rubbing of my ankle and foot bones, and generally overall sor...

Hiker's & Backpacker's BEST BOOT

by Jules G, Written on October 23, 2015
I have been hiking, backpacking, mountaineering for more decades than I'd care to admit. The construction of the Hanwag seemed to be so much more superior than all my other top brands, not to mention top prices. Unfortunately in the USA I could not find the Tatra Men's Wide. So I bought one in Europe. They are simply fantastic. Firm support, yet comfortable. They feel so much better than all my $300 boots I bought in the USA. There many boots that are fine for an hour or two hikes, but start feeling very uncomfortable beyond that timeframe. For rough terrain mountaineering the Hanwag Alaska is better suited and also well made, but it is higher built and for me it dug into the flesh above the ankles, so for harder core mountaineering I will stick with my Asoslo and Koflach Arctis. The Tatra however is a perfect fit for backpacking even with a heavier backpack up to about 40 (possibly even up to 50) pounds. I don't know why they are not readily available in the USA.

very nice boot but didn't fit

by Matthew F., from MI, United States Written on June 15, 2015
I wish this boot would have fit my wife ass feet. I wear a 3E, if you have wide feet do not purchase. If you have normal people feet, you'll love these boots.

Hanwag Tatra

by PM, from OR, United States Written on January 30, 2015
This is a very well crafted boot with a very grippy sole - although the sole is a bit narrow compared to several Zamberlan models I own. Another reviewer mentioned that these boots had a hard sole with no cushioning. Yes, you will need to add a pair of inserts as the stock models give you no cushioning at all. I would say the stock Zamberlan insoles are much better than these and I have inserted them into the Hanwag and the cushioning has improved significantly. So, this pair is a keeper! Break in period was a few days and now I have a well built, well cushioned and durable set of boots. Great job Hanwag!

Comfortable, Light and coming in wide sizes

by Giorgi S., from DE, United States Written on October 31, 2014
I had purchased these while hiking in Europe. great combination of high ankle support, light construction and firm sole. They seem to be well made ( made in germany and assembled in Croatia ) at higher price but defintely worthy .. I will revisit this review if they will not to the current assessment.
