There are so many good things to say. The reason I started with a hammock was I'm too boney to sleep on the ground. It is great to carry in my backpack on long trips because it is lighter than a tent and pad. It can be a downpour and you will be dry and comfortable. I set a tarp on the ground underneath so i have something to stand on.
