Reviews & Ratings for Kelly Kettle Aluminum Scout
— 8 reviews — Page 1
I've considered getting a Kelly Kettle for about 40 years but always talked myself out of it. I have lots of ways to heat water and am not that fond of smelling like smoke or even campfires, as most of my camping is in hot weather. I finally broke down when we bought a seasonal home further north and I could no longer resist the siren call of all the positive reviews. Glad I did. I've used it about ten times over the last two weeks and have enjoyed it immensely. It heats quickly, with very little smoke (depending in your fuel source) and looks like it will last forever. Buy the medium. I thoug...

Ordered the Scout (Med.) Kelly Kettle. Haven't used it yet. It is bigger than I envisioned it and will not be taking it on a backpacking trip but might take it to the BWCA if I can figure out how to pack it. I wish I had ordered the smaller size but then again that is only a 2 cup capacity and maybe a little small for how I would use it.

While I haven't been able to get to 3 minutes yet (even using high BTU oak), I am able to dramatically better the SOB times, and with 3 X's the volume of water! The KK is easy to light and feed fuel and really g

The only thing i didn't like was that with the pot stand inserted in the top it's hard to feed you must feed it from the bottom other than that this is my goto wood stove.

This is easy to use and works as advertised. It is a bit bulky for backpacking but not too heavy. I opted to purchase this model as it heats 44 oz vs. the 17 oz with the smaller model - and we had twelve scouts in our hiking group.

I have to say I like it, most of the time I am in the woods I have "camp food" so I just need to add water. The issue is I always try to find places with water so I do not carry more than about 2-3 liters. Therefore, I have to boil the water I find.
Like most backpackers, I have a Jetboil. I have used the Jetboil for everything from camping to heating milk for my baby away from home. It rocks for
