Chris's Review of Lems Boulder Leather Casual Boot - Men's

I wear a size 10-10.5 typically and the 44 fit perfectly. Swapped the laces over to elastic, but the factory included ones seemed really nice and able to hold well for more technical stuff like hiking etc. I've been using these as my around town boots in Alaska in temps down to -12*F in regular socks and my feet are still warm. It should be noted that I haven't used these for hiking (yet) and haven't spent hours outside in them. I will say that I have walked through and stood in snow up to about 7'' deep without any issues. I also plan to wear these for all my hiking and hunting this coming spring/summer/fall. I was concerned about grip given the fact that these boots don't have lugs. I am happy to report though that that has not been an issue for me (yet). But we will see when I get into hiking and technical walks on wet logs/rocks/ etc. in the forest during the rainy season.

Some reviews I read online before purchase stated that there are water proofing concerns with regard to the seems. To avoid this issue I gave them 3 generous coats of heavy duty waterproofing camp spray (which can be found at most major retailers/box stores - green bottle and cap). I haven't had any moisture issues at all, although they are not a sealed boot, so deep water will be a no go if you want dry feet. I also plan to do a rub on leather wax during the rainy seasons.

As far as comfort goes these boots are awesome right out of the box, if not a little stiff. I have a slight amount of heel rubbing and stiffness the first day, but after that they feel like slippers. If you know and wear minimalist shoes you will really appreciate these a lot. If you are new to them these are a great place to start. Very flexible, good ground feel, but also offer ample protection from things like rocks, etc. This is my first and only pair of minimalist boots, but I've been in barefoot or minimalist shoes for about 2 years.

I also have no complaints about Campsaver.com. My shipping was not free because I live in Alaska. However, it was easy enough to get a coupon code to offset the $12 cost. I had them pretty quick considering my location as well.

Planning to update this review in the fall of 2018 with further info on how they handled during my adventures. Hope this review can help somebody looking for more detailed info than some reviews offer.
