I climbed Mt. Shasta last month, my feet never felt cold (12 inches of snow fell the night before the trek) and the boots were comfortable. In the past I have tried on and bought a pair of Lowa hiking boots in a sporting store. I wear a size 7 but bought a size 7.5 for thick socks. Since I am familiar with the Lowa brand I went ahead and bought the Lowa mountain boots on line also in a size 7.5. I am very happy with the boots. I had 45 miles on the boots prior to the mountain trek. I took hikes adjusting the boots and laces as needed and learning how to lace the boots correctly. The boots are heavier than regular hiking boots but you get use to the differences in weight.
