Most Helpful Positive Review Awesome boot but buyer beware!
Purchased these boots after owning a pair of Baffin's (1998) and Tibet GTX (2006), both lasted me 8 years and carried me in great comfort! New pair came with a deep gauge in the leather and lowa refuses to do anything about it. Check your boots carefully before wearing and fingers crossed they treat you better than me!

Solid boot

by DanSantaMonica, from CA, United States Written on January 8, 2024
Very comfortable right out of the box. Solid build, lots of support. As recommended on another site, ordered half size smaller than my other Lowa boots. On the heavier side but all with a very good purpose in mind. Totally recommend

Lowa above and beyond

by JT, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on July 9, 2023
Great boots, buy a 1/2 size bigger to allow for good hiking socks. They are tough and rugged for backing. Great for rocks and the backcountry- this is my second pair. The lace eyes are stronger than other expensive brands I have owned. Only thing I add to them is a bit better sole insert.
Pros:
  • Comfy
  • good lace eyes
  • true to fit
Cons:
  • Bit pricey
Best Used for:
  • Backcountry hiking

Love my Lowa Tibet GTX Wide Men boots!

by NOLS Grad, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on December 1, 2022
:
These boots carried my wide feet, 160+lbs body and 50+lbs backpack to some wet and steep off-trail and on-trail hikes at the Brooks Range / Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, AK, Denali NP, AK, Kenai Peninsula, AK, Kluane NP, Yukon, Dark Canyon, UT, Salmon River, ID and many other majestic places. They and knee-high gaiters kept my feet dry after wide and river crossings.

Great construction and quality materials for durability and comfort. Some folks may find them heavy, but I consider them heavy-duty that can handle a lot of adverse conditions! The rubber rands is one of the nice features to protect the lower leather from bumps and scratches.

I like how the lacing system gives me different ways to adjust to the terrains throughout the day.

I replaced the original insoles with Superfeet Trailblazers for better arch support.

I follow Lowa's boot care instructions and supplies to keep them in good conditions.
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • QUALITY
  • Traction
  • supportive
  • Wide size available
Cons:
  • OEM Insoles do not have good arch support
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking or trekking with heavy load

Nice well made boot

by Grouse Hunter, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on October 11, 2022
First time trying Lowa boots. Wish these boots fit better, but they ran a little wide. My foot is a little narrow, but most boots medium width fit me. Otherwise, these are great boots. Might of got by with thicker socks, but I was looking for a boot I could wear with thinner socks. I would still highly recommend these boots based on the quality I see in them.

Goretex liner fell apart.

by Jblack, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 24, 2022
The inside goretex liner came apart at the seam just above the heel where the boot is designed to flex. This happened on both boots so it seems like its a design or mfg flaw. Unfortunately after this happened I kept getting blisters at that spot. They did last a couple seasons and were relatively comfortable, but for the amount of times I wore them they should have lasted longer.
Pros:
  • Great traction on slippery surfaces
Cons:
  • Poor quality
Best Used for:
  • Rocky trail hikes
  • Heavy load backpacking
Would recommend: No

  • Well made
Cons:
  • Weight

Great Boots

by Smokey, from MS, United States Written on March 11, 2022
This makes the 4th pair of lowa boots I own. My first pair of 5.5 years are starting to wear out so I ordered another Tibet Gtx just like them for replacement. I also have the Baffin pro leather lined and the mountain extreme insulated for cold weather although I have not needed them yet. These boots fit my feet perfect and I have put many miles on these boots from Mississippi to California as a wildland firefighter and forester. I wore cheaper boots for 20 years but bought my first pair of these and that’s all I buy now. I can sleep in these boots after wearing them for extended times. I know everyone feet are different but lowa are my go to boot and fit true to size. I used to get maybe 1.5 to 2 years out of boots but I easily get double from lowa and I m not easy on a pair of boots
Best Used for:
  • Forestry work, wildland firefighting

Favorite heavy boots

by Logan Walter, from CA, United States Written on September 28, 2020
Wear these hiking long trails and when with a heavy pack. Never ever have had my feet get wet, and with 300# of hiker and pack over them, they offer superb stability and grippiness. I’ve bought lighter boots since but haven’t been able to replace the sheer ruggedness of these. Insane tread life, even on pavement. Have a few hundred miles in em and they still look new.
Pros:
  • durabililty
Cons:
  • Heavy
Best Used for:
  • Everything
