Awesome boot, but too narrow for me
I am searching for the "perfect" boots for day hikes and maybe a quick overnight with a light pack. I have other more heavy duty boots for extended backpacking trips. After researching several models, the Lowa Toro Evo checked all the boxes. When I saw it on sale on Campsaver, I jumped on it. The boot is exactly what I wanted. It is lightweight but supportive and stiff enough underfoot to prevent foot fatigue while day hiking with light loads. When walking, the boot felt light and nimble, but my foot felt planted, very stable and predictable with each step. The collar held my ankle firmly in place. I couldn't even force my ankle to roll it was that secure. That's critical to me because my ankles are trashed and roll easily. These boots provided a great sense of confidence. Sadly, they were just too narrow in the toebox and metatarsal area. Although I am not a true wide, my foot shape requires a roomier boot. Also, the lacing required diligence to ensure they wouldn't slip out of the upper three sets if lacing hooks. If this boot fits your foot and your intended use, it's a home run. I wouldn't recommend it for big multi-day trips with heavy loads, but recommend you put it on your list of boots to consider.
Pros:
- Light weight, secure and stable.
Cons:
- Too narrow for some. Tricky lacing.
Best Used for:
- Day hiking
