If you want to get into climbing, this is an okay place to start.

I bought this package 4 years ago. I still use the harness frequently (3-5 times/week lately) and it has held up remarkably well. If you are just getting into climbing and don't want to spend a lot of money this is a great place to start. I replaced the chalk bag after about a year for something a little cooler, but the ATC does its thing, I ended up donating it to a friend, but the harness is great. It's about time to replace the harness at this point too, but it was a great first buy.
Pros:
  • inexpensive
  • gets the job done
  • legacy harness
Cons:
  • chalk bag not as dope as others
  • atc has too much friction
Best Used for:
  • Beginners

I’m new to indoor rock climbing and as all you climbers now it’s extremely addictive. I was renting equipment but new I had to purchase my own. I decided on the mad rock mars climbing package. The harness fits great with easy adjustable straps and also looks sharp. The belay device is the same design as the one I use to rent so a big plus. A nice carabiner and a snazzy chalk bag completes the set all for a great price.
