Diego's Review of Mammut Alugator Light Shovel
Recently used the alugator shovel and loved it. It’s the lightest non-plastic shovel I could find on the market and also the most compact. Sure plastic ones can be lighter but the frigid cold makes them brittle under a certain temperature. I’ve broken two and let me tell you that it really sucks to resort to using an ice axe and your hands. The alugator worked great but my only complaint is that it doesn’t have a D handle. Not a big deal but it would be perfect if it did.
