I use this pack to carry climbing gear on short 1-2 mile approaches. The very first time I took it out, a thin pine tree branch snagged the outer pocked and ripped a 1 inch slice in it. Also, at the end of the day, I noticed I had worn a hole in each side mesh pouch. The shoulder straps aren't much to brag about either. The foam that was used compresses easily and so the padding is really ineffective with heavier loads. Here's what they did do right: They kept it simple. The few pockets and the awesome U-shaped zipper panel access are great. The waist belt is comfortable. Durability falls way short on this pack- as does the cheap, insufficiently padded shoulder straps. I really expect more from Marmot. I'm pretty disappointed in this product.

Just got it and used it on a two-night, 25 mile high through Devil's Path in NY.
Positives: 1. Adjustable torso length! This is a huge plus to my mind, as it allows me to really dial in the exact length I need. This adjustment is made via a strong velcro system. 2. Extremely solid construction and high-quality materials. 3. Rainfly included. 4. Dual stays really do make this pack super solid and comfortable under heavy loads. 3. Nalgenes fit in the side pockets with ease. 6. Very big and broad for a 60L pack (could be a negative).
Complaints: 1. Only one hip belt pocket. The manufacturer advertises two, but in reality one side has a useless sleeve and the other has a nice (if somewhat tight) zip pouch. 2. It is a little bulky for a 60L pack, and doesn't compress/cinch very well. I've found that it's better to evenly take up as much of the volume as possible rather than cinch it down too much. 3. The lid is mobile, but is not easily removed entirely.
Nice, comfortable pack.
