Very pleased with the look and finish of the jacket. I got the black, it's not too shiny and has the look of a more expensive piece. I found the fit to be almost perfect, it's just a little too restrictive in the chest back of the shoulders for an active coat for me. I got large, I'm 6' 180. I usually wear a large in Arcteryx, Medium in Patagonia.

I bought this on sale, and with an additional discount, because I think this type of jacket tends to be absurdly overpriced but wanted to try one one for bike camping. But of course anything on sale tends to have something wrong with it and so the game becomes one of selecting something whose shortcomings do not interfere with your needs. I had assumed that color was the primary reason this was on sale, but the issue was fit. As a cyclist, I am familiar with various degrees of athletic fit and tendencies within manufacturers. The fit for this item does not match the chart provided by Marmot via Camp Saver and is inconsistent through the garment. Shoulders and sleeves are within reason, but the neck has an unnecessary gap when zipped up, despite a fleece lining that would insulate nicely if less loose, and yet at the same time, the body is comically snug through the entire torso, off by a good two inches if not three, which among other things compromises its insulative capability through the core. By way of comparison, my son's similar coat by another manufacturer fits me far better and is a medium. I gave the jacket to my other son, who is a lithe 16, and it barely works for him. This was enough to get me thinking that my estimation of Marmot is inflated, but mainly I am annoyed that the size chart was inaccurate.
Pros:
- reasonable quality of materials
Best Used for:
- people without rib cages
- people who never zip up their coat

My son took this jacket on a backpacking trip to WY. in July. Perfect weight. He was never cold with just a long sleeved shirt underneath.

The material is great and I have no real complaints about the features (although having the waist chord end in the pockets is a bit weird). However, the arms are a bit short (and inexplicably but less importantly, a bit wide) which you'll notice when cycling.

I bought this lightweight puffy for my bf for Christmas. He's a cyclist, and I appreciate how small and light the jacket is once packed down. Only downside is that the sleeves are a bit wide. He's 5'5" and around 120lbs, and they aren't fitted very well, even with another layer under the jacket (size S). If you're a smaller-statured person, I recommend going for a smaller size (if there's an XS - I couldn't find one) or a different jacket.
