Exactly as expected - Marmot Chelsea Coat - Women's

Bought this coat for Chicago winter. I was looking for a waterproof down coat with baffles on the inside rather than outside, and this was exactly what I was looking for.

I am 5"3 and 106 lbs (40" from shoulders to middle of knee). The XS reached just above my knee (38"), the ideal length for walking around in winter! XS fits very well across my shoulders and chest, with enough space for a thick sweater. It's looser than I'd like in the hip area and seems to flare out a little bit. I wish it was more fitted in that area but it may suit another body type better, I have narrower hips and average-sized shoulders. I liked the hood a lot. Normally, hoods flop over my face and obscure all vision, but this one actually fit my head properly! I had my hair in a bun and the hood fits comfortably with it. Really happy I won't have to choose between seeing where I am going and having some weather protection for my head/face! The zipper was quite easy to use, not sure why other people said they had trouble with it. It seems pretty sturdy. I got the claret color in XS, which I think is a 2019 model (explains the excellent price I got!). I was worried it would be a bright red, but I was happy to see it's a deeper maroon color, perfect for the winter while still standing out from all the depressing black and gray winter wear.

I got the coat last week but thanks to covid, have only worn it outside once. The temperature was in the 20s-30s and I spent about 3 hours outdoors at a park, wearing just a cardigan and thin shell underneath. It held up really well and I was toasty warm! I am anemic and feel the cold a lot - I'm always super bundled up so this was an experiment for me! It wasn't a windy day so I can't speak to how much this keeps the wind out yet. But it seems very sturdy and very warm, while maintaining a slimmer profile than other down jackets, which is important to me. Looking forward to making this my winter staple coat.
