First off - round up in size at least one size when you order! If in doubt order both sizes. These are great for growing kids that have dis-proportionate leg or torso length for their height. The pants have a fairly high rise cut. The cut combined with the gaiters and suspenders allows a lot of flexibility in terms of how high or low they are worn without causing fabric to bunch up. In this regard, they are better than bibs which tend to bunch up in the torso when they are too long. I don’t think the pants saccrifice much in terms of snow getting into the top because of the high rise cut. As one would expect with Marmot, the material and construction are top notch. I do, however, wish Marmot would implement a ‘Worn Wear’ program for recycling/re-selling kids clothing. My son will outgrow these long before they need replaced.

They stay warm, dry and suspenders help them move around with ease! We love this snow pant. So far we have used them for walking in -10 weather, skiing, snow shoeing, outings in the wet coastal snow, making snowman, tobogganing... We are sold on the Marmot Edge pants. They have held up for my active 10 year old.
