This jacket is very lightweight and although I have not worn it in all-day rain, it has proven to be waterproof in some strong Pacific Northwest downpours.
But there are trade-offs in achieving this very light weight. The jacket is sized somewhat small; it is tighter on me than any other jacket I have. Still, there's enough slack to wear a fairly heavy fleece jacket underneath.
