MIchiganTraveler53's Review of Marmot Minimalist Jacket -Men's
I have tried several similar rain shells from name brand outdoor gear companies. Some more expensive, some for a little less. This one has several features that made it the right one for me. The outer material is softer and more flexible than most, it is quieter when moving and non-restrictive for arm motion. It is breathable and has pit zips, which I like a lot, it does not get wet with sweat from the inside. I am 5' 8", 160 lbs, and the M fits very nicely over a base layer and a thin down vest, could even wear a little more underneath.
I have not worn it in a total downpour, so I can't comment on its worst-case waterproof abilities. But in light rain, drizzle, even in light snow it has been fully up to the task of keeping me and the other layers dry.
Campsaver was the best price compared to a couple of local stores and everything else I could find online.
Highly recommended.
Pros:
Fit and comfort
Pit zips
Quiet shell material
Cons:
None
Best Used for:
Around town
light hiking
light rainy days
Would Recommend:
Yes
