disappointed

by Tony, from GA, United States Written on January 6, 2018
I've completed 2 thru hikes on the A.T. and have a lot of backcountry and gear experience. I bought the Never Summer sleeping back and I have to say I am disappointed. The loft of this bag when I first looked at it was less than i'd expect for a 0 degree bag and that turned out to be true. I've had it in weather down to about 18 degrees and I was NOT warm while wearing fleece pants, tshirt, and heavy weight fleece sweater and sleeping on a sea to summit insulated inflatable backpacking sleeping mat. I want to like this sleeping bag but am pretty disappointed. I don't see how it could possibly be considered or labeled a 0 degree bag and I've owned multiple 0 degree bags over the years. Not only is not warm enough to be down to 0 degrees, my first night in it I awoke the next morning with quite a few feathers all stuck to my fleece sweater. For the price I would think it would not have feathers falling out and it would be warm to the rated temp. I personally would not use the bag below 20 degrees if I wanted to be comfortable.
Pros:
  • relatively lightweight
Cons:
  • feathers falling out
  • nor warm enough
Best Used for:
  • 3 season backpacking
Would recommend: No

Great bag that I'd buy again

by CAC, Verified Owner from MS, United States Written on November 23, 2017
I've only had a chance to use it once, but I know I'm going to love it. It is so light weight yet extremely warm. I was concerned about the shoulder width, but I think it's going to be okay. I'm 6'4" and about 250 lbs, so I bought the long version. When zipped completely up there's very little room around my shoulders, but the bag rolls with me very nicely.
Pros:
  • Light
  • warm
Cons:
  • Not very roomy around the shoulders
Best Used for:
  • Cool to cold weather camping

Marmot Never Summer 0 degree Down Bag

by John W., from CA, United States Written on November 12, 2014
Excellent value, priced matched and beat by 5% by Campsaver... love this site! The bag is a quality product and well designed. Marmot knows their stuff. Haven't taken it out yet but I assume it'll be exactly what I need to fend off the chilly early mornings in the High Sierras. At 6' and 175, there's plenty of room in the bag, and draft tubes, draw cords and a two way zipper to ensure performance and flexibility. Thank you, Campsaver and Marmot!

toasty warm

Hate to say I got hot, but I got hot! as to durability, my last sleeping bag is 30 years old and just starting to lose loft/warmth, so ask me in another 30 years. Campsaver's price beat all others by at least 20% and delivery was faster than I anticipated.

comfy, snug and warm

by LyRae, from CA, United States Written on September 10, 2013
Comfy, snug and warm. After a recent backpacking trip in a sub-par sleeping bag and freezing all night for two nights I decided to treat myself to this bag, I'm so glad I did.

Great Warm Sleeping Bag

by Buckingham U. B, Written on September 10, 2011
Great sleeping bag. I had been looking at the bag and reading reviews for over a year and a half, and finally bought it during Campsaver's 20% off sale over St. Pattys day.

The primary reason I bought it was because I was always cold sleeping during early spring or late fall camping trips. That will never be the case again. Just got back from a trip in WI with lows of 19 and 30 F on the two night
