Reviews & Ratings for Marmot Quasar Nova Hoody - Men's
— 3 reviews — Page 1
I've been wearing the Quasar Nova for a few days and comparing it to the standard Quasar I have in green (purchased a few years ago). I use the standard Quasar for backpacking and camping, got the Nova in black as an around town jacket. Glad I did! This is a really warm jacket, warmer than the standard Quasar in my estimation. This seems to be because there aren't any stitching holes and the material is 20D instead of 10D on the non-Nova quasar. I think the Nova is probably less breathable as a result. Fit is as most reviewers mention for the Quasar, only a little room left in the chest a...

The coat is extremely light and packs into it's pocket. The waist adjustment enables you to prevent wind from coming up the coat. The hood fits well, but probably too tight to go over a helmet. I have not hiked in it yet, but it seems very warm, especially given the weight of the coat. I believe with a base layer and fleece underneath, this coat would be comfortable to zero F. One thing about sizing, I find the fit a bit tight around the shoulders since it is not athletic cut so I was between M and L due to limited shoulder room.

I ordered a men's size medium in black. I am 5'10'' 170 lbs and it fits perfectly. Not boxy, but not athletic. It has a nice regular fit. This jacket has all the features I was looking for. It is lightweight and packs away into its own pocket. The face fabric is 20D nylon, so it is light yet still durable. Baffle size is ideal. Another thing I like about this jacket is that there is minimal sewing. Baffles are constructed without sewing through the face fabric, so this means the jacket is more water resistant and has less of a chance of losing feathers. There are dual drawcords at the waist to seal in warm air and the hood is not too tight, but not too large. Fits nicely. I also love the Napoleon chest pocket! Great price when compared to similar models from other companies.
