Andrew G.'s Review of Marmot Shadow Jacket -Men's

I researched down insulated jackets for about three winter seasons and finally found a good replacement for my 12-year old REI winter down parka. This jacket has a lot of nice features and works. I wanted the insulating qualities of down with a more durable exterior. I also didn't want a system jacket-just a 'throw and go' jacket. More specifically a parka. I recently tried the shadow jacket out on a 34-35 degree night with 20mph NW winds for about two hours with only a t-shirt underneath. This jacket worked to cut the wind and keep my core and arms warm. This looks to be a promising and warm jacket (for Chicago area winters). It has some bulk and weight to it (which I like) but not so much that you look like you are going to Mt. Everest. Other jackets I tried on were TNF Point It Down Jacket, Marmot Guides Down Hoody, Marmot Ama Dablam, Montbell Permafrost, Rab Neutrino Infinity, Patagonia Wanaka Down. Hope this helps!
