Bomber winter or hiker pants

As always GTX Pro delivers absolute water proof piece of mind , pants are a great cut. I’m 5,8 160lbs Medium is just slightly big so I also bought a Small pair. I use one for hiking with a smartwool base layer for my only insulation and one for snow adventures with also a pair of smartwool long-johns for warmth . I’m able to move bend stoop run and traverse steep trails and wooded areas with ease , I love the suspenders but they are also removable , the modeled I have is full zip sides I wish there was a better way to open the sides for venting but that’s just a small minus , as with a base layer only I do get a lot of ventilation. Yes Marmot did a nice job worth the money , I got my two pair on sale ! Yeah
Pros:
  • Durable,waterproof very well cut
Cons:
  • No good options for vent openings
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking,snowshoeing,bivouacs,hiking

Marmot Speed Light Pants

by Ryan W., Written on July 8, 2015
I purchased the Marmot Speed Light pants for working outside in wet weather and also to wear offshore fishing. I have worn them now for both activities and find them light, comfortable, breathable and great for staying dry both in rain and being hit with salt water spray traveling at sea. I also have the Marmot Speed light Jacket and can recommend both highly. I am based in Sydney Australia where the weather frequently changes between hot to wet and back quickly in a day and find the jacket and pants a good balance of breathablity and waterproof. I have had a speed light jacket for about 2 years and durability wise the quality, waterproofing and breath ability is the same as the day I got it. I have recently bought another one for work as the original jacket is covered in squid ink.

You just have to make sure the pockets are done right up on the jacket and pants to make sure water doesn't get in. Downward zippers may help this. The wireframe in the hood has also cracked in a few spots which is annoying but has not effected how I use it as there is enough structural integrity in the way the stitching holds it together for it to work. I think the wire may have broken when cold and brittle in the cold when snow skiing.
