I was skeptical taking these boots out of the box, with the sole kindof reminding me of my winter snowboots from the 1970s. But the leather was buttery and conditioned, the interior real wool lining so comfortable and the unusual sole outstanding on our snow covered ice outside here in Montana. These are not "those 70s boots" in the least. Riding several inches below the knee (I am 5 feet 8), these boots are great with almost any length of skirt. I tested them on snow and ice compared to my go-to Muck Arctic Pro boots, and the soles on these were more secure and grippy. I want a pair for my elderly mother so she can stay safe in winter conditions, too.
