This was exactly what I was looking for. Last time I took a bag on a trip and apparently it didn’t qualify as a personal item. My previous bag is great, but it has a structure that doesn’t allow for much give when trying to place it in the measurement tool airlines use. That’s where this bag comes in. The compartmentalization for this bag is awesome! It comes in handy when you’re separating certain clothing from others and I love the option of going full clamshell opening or compartments. The water bottle sleeve fits larger bottles than most bags which is a big plus. I haven’t been able to take it on a trip yet but I’m itching for one soon. The only very minor downside I would say is the organization for smaller items, like your tech, etc. other bags have a bit more better pockets and design for them. However this bag does offer a place for them so it’s still great.
