Most Helpful Negative Review Lots of features
There's a lot going on with this pack. There are so many features that it would be hard to touch on all of them in one review. My overall impression is that this is a very well made pack which needs some refinement in order to be really awesome. I ordered this pack on Campsaver thinking that it woul...

Awesome pack

Be careful not to overload this one: it has so much space, so many pockets, it's an easy mistake to make.
With all my old injuries and aches and pains, im pretty hard to fit but i was pleasantly surprised : I'm 5'6", my spine measures at 17" and the pack fits me like a glove.
I really like that the hip belt is long enough to completely wrap around my hips.
The independent swivel in the belt pretty much guarantes that you won't feel the pack on, its really neat.

My Platypus Big zip 3L fits fine and i did not have any issues with the port.

In my pack: rain pants, rain jacket, extra layer.
Food for the day and extra snacks.
Flashlight, beanie, extra socks, gloves, Buff.
Sunglasses, cell phone, keys, lip balm, sunblock
First aid kit, Nuun tabs
Trowell, TP, wipes, extra ziplocks

And room to spare.
There are enough hidden extra straps and loops and what nots to attach anything but the kitchen sink to this pack.

The S-zipper enables me to never ever ever lose anything in my pack, i can access it all from anywhere on a momemts notice, it's perfect.
There's a raincover that i haven't needed to use yet but it's there in case i need it.

The materials used feel sturdy, i hike through really messy terrain at times and there's been no issues with snags or rips.

A really, really sweet pack.
So far I've only used it for day hikes but i can't wait to try it on an overnighter.

My only issue with the pack is that it’s so roomy, it’s easy to overfill and if you do that, the fit will be off.
That said, I use it for long day hikes, I plan to try it as an overnighter.
Currently in my Salute:

rain gear, down sweater, extra socks, Buff, beanie, sunglasses, sunblock, lip balm, keys, wallet, phone, lunch and snacks, Platypus Big Zip 3L hydration bladder, ziploc with toilet paper, wipes and trowel, first aid kit, collapsible 16 oz water bottle and Nuun tablets.

Easily adjustable straps, sturdy as all hell: I’m very hard on my gear.
I prefer less swivel in the belt but I love the option of tightening or loosening the strap for custom fit.

Accessing my gear from anywhere in the pack is beyond cool, it saves a lot of frustration on the trail, and being able to open it wide and use it to sit on so I don’t get a wet tush might not be the way it was intended to use but it totally works for me!

Awesome, awesome pack.

I love the utility of this pack

I helped my boyfriend pick out this pack recently and I've had pack envy ever since! This is one seriously well-engineered piece of equipment. I love the "s zipper" which allows you to access any part of the pack without unpacking everything else. I borrowed the pack for a recent long day hike and I found it to be comfortable even with my small frame. Both the exterior and interior pockets are very well placed and convenient. My only gripe about the pack is the access panel for your hydration straw-- it's pretty small and difficult with my hydration bladder personally. But that's not enough to stop me from loving the pack; I'm shopping for my own salute now. It's an added bonus that the founders of this company live in my neighborhood!

great company, great product, great price.

I am very happy with this pack; it is sturdy, holds up to wear and tear, and has served as my primary pack for school and traveling the last six months. The only issue I've had with the pack was that the sternum strap came disconnected; without an 'easy' fix, MHM stepped in to fix up my pack and send it back to me. i couldn't be happier with my pack or mhm.

Great pack, narrow lumbar region

by E, Written on December 12, 2013
I'm used to osprey and gregory packs and this one is just a bit different than i was expecting but not in a bad way. it carries weight exceptionally well and the S zipper is a fabulous idea. my only complaints are the size of the hip belts and that the lumbar region of the pack is too narrow.

the pockets on the hip belt are small and they dont seem to be as wide as osprey or gregory's designs.
