Amanda G.'s Review of Misty Mountain Silhouette Harness
I like it. The harness fits nicely for my frame - I'm 125 and 5"4 - I chose a medium as my waist is 30". The leg loops could have a little more adjust-ability - thankfully my quads are just right for the cinched leg loops. Misty seemed to think that people would need a ton of wiggle room for those thighs so they left these really long webbing tails on the leg loops. I may have to do a little sewing to make them shorter so as not to tickle my legs when not climbing.
The upper waist is comfortable. I've never been a true fan of the upturned gear loops - but I'm planning on heavy racks in the near future to help tame those suckers. They don't bother me otherwise.
I like the one common breakaway point in the back for the glute adjustment - I noticed a lot of harnesses have two points back there and so this harness is a great mix of minimalism and style.
I chose the silhouette over the women's Cadillac because I simply thought the Cadillac would be too much harness for me. I wanted something more compact, not quite as wide and lighter. Sturdy enough for Indian Creek and tame enough for short sport climbs. This harness is best for those with trad dreams.
My first harness with Misty Mountain. Previously I've used Black Diamond - and while I like BD for their sustainability, the recent harnesses I tried (the Luna) did not have releasable leg loop straps in the back without really fidgeting and getting angry enough to just take the whole harness off to use the bathroom on the cliffs. A no-go for me.
Overall, I think I'll like this one.
PS. My husband bought the Men's Cadillac to replace an old Mammut harness he had and was initially pleased until the Cadillac "squeezed his junk unrelentlessly" while climbing. Maybe there is no perfect harness after all.
