you gotta wear it to believe it...

by smartydog904, from IL, United States Written on September 10, 2013
I purchased the men's version to have a more comfortable fit for layering, as not all women are shaped like a bell, which is a good thing! Anyway after reading many reviews and checking many sites for the best price [@] won out! And their customer service ROCKS! This jacket is one of the best I own and as a woman I own a LOT of jackets! It's very warm for it's fill weight of 4oz-800 fill, the larg

Light, Warm, quality

by Kelly, Written on September 10, 2013
I've had this jacket for about 5 months. This is a great lightweight down jacket. It is exceptionally warm for it's weight. Weighs nothing when backpacking and hiking. But looks good around town too. I've yet to see one single feather poke through. I've worn it down in the teens with a tee shirt and was warm. But the best unexpected thing was how well it was thought out and put together. T

Very Nice

by Attila, Written on September 10, 2013
This jacket feels great!
It has a super soft shell that is very comfy and fits me very nicely. Im 6ft and 185 lbs-bought the large. It has almost double the amount of down fill that the patagonia down sweater has, and therefore quite a bit warmer. in addition to the nice deep hand warmer pockets, it has 2 large internal stash pockets. The neck collar is fleece lined and fits nice and snug on my si

Good mid-layer jacket

by Zach the Backpa, Written on September 10, 2013
This is an average quality 800 fill down mid-layer jacket. It fits well and doesn't hinder range of motion for climbing etc... It is light and reasonably warm when worn with a shell.

Beautifully made and very light

by Joe, Written on September 10, 2011
My first Mont-bell purchase. Very warm for its weight and am impressed at the thought in the design, e.g. no zips in hand warmer pockets and collar lining perforated material- both features to reduce weight.

I'm six foot one and 195 lbs and the jacket in L fits well with nice long sleeves and long back. Elastic cuffs and hem also keep warmth in.

Impressed.

Works well for what it is

by Rainmaker, Written on September 10, 2011
I am a through hiker and bought this jacket for warmth when camped or taking a break. With the usual light thru hiker base this jacket keeps me warm (when idle) to just below freezing, say 28 to 30F. At 11 to 12 oz and very compressible it can find a spot in my pack. With 30d nylon shell it blocks the wind much better than the 15d ultra lights. It has really kept me comfortable thru some long

Info on the fit

by KarlosJ83, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
Fit: From prev review, ordered a med - wrong choice. As a 5'8"/180lb "mature" male, chest 41", waist 34", a med was just too tight in the chest, although the arm length was good. Wanted to wear it over at least a heavy shirt and potentially a thin under-jacket, so returned (handled expeditiously- thanks!) for a large, which met my needs, although the arms seemed a little long. Workmanship was

Montbell is going downhill

by Jason, Written on September 10, 2011
I bought the 2011 version of the Alpine Light to replace the one I bought a couple years ago. More than anything I just wanted the adjustable draw string at the hem that is on this year's model and not on my old one. When I got the new jacket it felt a lot thinner than my old one. I laid it down on my floor to compare thickness the old jacket had twice as much loft as the new one. I gave it a whil

Light and cozy!

by Guy Bouchard, from QC, Canada Written on September 10, 2011
I ordered one size bigger since they seem to run smaller than normal. I always wear Medium and this one is Large. With a large, fit was perfect. It is a lightweight, very compact (when carryong), lofty, cozy jacket. I use it to increase my sleeping bag warmth first and to be warm when i stop walking (backpacking) or skiing. Will baby it to keep it a very long time!

Nice jacket but a painful experience

by KC Hiker, Written on September 10, 2011
Jacket sizes definitely run smaller than usual. I'm 5'9+" and 185 lbs and 44" chest. Ordered a XL. It arrived and was just hanging on me, over the arms and waist and shoulder. Sent it back and re-ordered a L. It arrived and it was way too tight. Called CampSaver and they kindly compared the XL that I sent back with another XL and determined that the first XL that I received was really an XXL
