This vest replaces the same vest purchased between 2001 and 2003. The price has dropped significantly and so to has the quality and density of the down and outter material. It still is super light weight and warm. I do doubt that I will get the duration with this one. I wore the old vest near daily November to March here in northern New England and it accompanied me on the Long Trail, the Appalachian Trail, the Tahoe rim trail ,and 2x into the Grand Canyon. My CampSaver experience was good and I'll be a return customer.

This vest is incredibly lightweight and warm. The medium is a little shorter than I'd like but the large was too wide and the armholes were too big. I kept the medium and like it for layering. The purple shows up as ultraviolet on my computer, but is a more mellow color in person. I kept the blue one.

Although it is a thin-ish vest, it is perfect as an extra layer for downhill skiing because it can be stuffed in a quart-size ziplock, vaccuum sealed and stored flat in a pocket.
The only issue with the shapeless fit is that it not so snug around the middle, and hence has the potential to be a bit draughty.

This vest can be worn by itself in fall, early spring and on mild winter days; however, in freezing Pacific Northwest weather, it needs to be worn as a vest under a down coat. Perfect in a cool restaurant, where you can remove your down coat and yet keep warm.
