Most Helpful Positive Review Protects Like a Space Suit! Should be called Deep Space Down!
I’m 5’8ā€ tall, 155lbs heavy and I wear 38R suits/Medium coats but I had to size down to a SMALL in the Deep Cold Down to get a proper fit. Even still the size Small is cavernous enough in the chest and arms to layer lots of clothing underneath. This is a big lofty warm expedition coat that wears easy and feels very light-weight on your back. With 400 grams of 800 fill responsibly sourced Down supplemented by 40 grams of Primaloft you will never need to layer more than a base and mid layer underneath the Deep Cold Down to keep warm in any type of weather inside the orbit of Pluto. Amazing down jacket!

by Mark A., Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on February 29, 2016
I have down jackets from Bogner, Arc'teryx, Canada Goose, and Mammut, and this is the one I would count on in extreme conditions. Hydrophobic down ensures that you will remain warm during snowstorms, but that may not be too much of an issue with the Pertex Endurance coating. I especially like the six pockets in the front, and best of all, the fleece-lined face mask. I have tested this jacket in -10F with a thick baselayer, a fleece midlayer, and a synthetic midlayer, feeling absolutely warm. Unless you're going on an Antarctic Expedition, or moving to Siberia, you will never be cold with this jacket.

Perfect for Yukon in winter

by Bernadette B., Written on February 12, 2016
I had this jacket as part of my clothing for the Yukon Arctic Ultra, travelling by foot over 500km, day and night. Hood and cheek/face protector can be set up with slight adjustments to get the right amount of venting/heat/cooling. Pockets are many and well placed and deep with good zips. Love it.

Why isn't Montane better known?

by Dean, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 5, 2016
I can afford most any down jacket on the market. I have been looking for a better quality, better down, more down, jacket for some time. I had never heard of Montane until I found this jacket at CampSaver. Frankly, I believe it is a much better design, and a much better execution (build) than anything else on the market, at any price. If you are looking for an excellent quality and warm down jacket, then I would recommend this jacket.
