I wanted a true 800+ fill European Down jacket for winter hiking. I've seen some that were supposed to be 800+ fill but were flat as a pancake and not warm, to boot. I think they were cheap immations made with inferior down. I read some winter hiking blogs, and this jacket came up with high ratings. So i ordered one, which was received very quickly in the mail and took it out for a nice winter

This jacket arrived just in time the week our temperatures hit the 20s, and once I put on this jacket, I knew it was love at first sight. The jacket is extremely well constructed, and I appreciate the more athletic cut of this puffy jacket. Putting on the jacket is like wrapping myself in my favorite sleeping bag, yet it does not make me look like a stay puff marshmallow. As an avid hiker and

I bought the blue clearance jacket (lovely color by the way), which I assume is a previous year's model. I sized up to get a good fit. This is a warm, high quality jacket with many good features. This jacket ended my search for the perfect puffy! It runs small, lean and long. Therefore, as a 6' size 12, the XL fits perfectly. XL's in other makes would fit me like a tent, but the lengths would be right. The fit is flattering, the down is well-distributed, and it is extremely warm and lightweight. Perfect for daily winter use in Maine and for backcountry adventures.
The hood rolls up,

This is my second North Star jacket. I bought one last year and like it so much and bought another one this year in different colour. However, I found Montane cut some corners on this year's jacket. My first jacket is 93% down and 7% feather, but the new one is 90% down and 10% feather. It is still a great jacket!
