Size up if you want to layer underneath. The stretchy fabric on this medium weight jacket is very comfortable and you don't look "boxy" whether you have extra layers or not. I'm 5'6" and normal wear an 8-10, but bought a large. Great quality and I'm sure it will last years.

I live in the desert where winter temps are in the 30s and 40s in the morning and at night. This jacket is the perfect weight. The cuffs at the wrists are so functional in that they keep the warmth in. This jacket is beautifully made. The fabric (soft) and zippers (smooth) are of high quality. I chose the navy, and it is a true dark navy though I wasn’t sure it was going to be so from the pictures. The zippers on each side of the bottom of the jacket are functional and attractive (unzip for a little more room to move and for a different look). I chose the medium based on my measurements and the size guide, and it is true to size. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because the fit on the models always looks a little better because they are generally so tall. The fit would be slightly better if I was taller. Also, the hood is a little big on me. Overall, very happy with this high quality jacket scored at a great price.
